Thank you to everyone who was able to attend Open House last week! I know the kids really enjoyed the opportunity to show you all of the hard work they've been doing throughout the year. There are only 4 weeks left to go! * The Spring Choir Concert is this Thursday the 17th at Aptos High! Here is the schedule: * K & 1st grades 5:00pm * 2nd & 3rd grades 6:15pm * 4th grade 7:00pm * 5th & 6th grades 7:45pm Please bring your child at least 20 minutes prior to their scheduled time. They needs to wear a white top and dark pants or skirts. I hope to see you all there! * Our last field trip will be Tuesday, June 5th, at the La Selva KOA! The day will consist of swimming, pizza, and field games. Permission slips were sent home last week. Please turn them in with the $13 fee as soon as possible. We can take up to 10 parents. * The Volunteer Appreciation Tea is this Wednesday at 2:30 in the library. This is the teachers' opportunity to show all of you how much we appreciate your help! * California Reports are due this Thursday! All rough drafts were sent home last Friday. Final drafts will be completed at home along with a visual aide and are due May 10th (regardless of presentation day). Check the Student Links section for details! If your child is creating a visual aide that requires the use of the laptop or projector, please let me know and send it to me ahead of time so I can make sure it works! * We will be attending a county-wide 4th grade trip to Cabrillo College this Friday, May 11th. We have our 3 parent volunteers (Julie Cory, Angie Healy, and Chellee McLay). Students need to bring a bag lunch! * Mark your calendar for May 17th for the Spring Choir Concert! More information will be sent home soon. * Open House is this Thursday, May 10th (6:30 - 8:00)! There will be a Burrito Dinner before-hand, put on by the 5th graders. There will also be a 4th Grade Bake Sale (info was sent home last week). * The last Scholastic Book Order is due this Friday. This week we will... ...complete our poetry books for you all to view at Open House! ...begin reading our next book: Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. *We are starting the CSTs (State Testing) this week! All of the 4th graders will be testing Monday through Thursday from 8:00 - 10:00. The Language Arts tests will be on Monday and Tuesday, and the Math tests will be on Wednesday and Thursday. Please be sure to send your child to school on time since we will be starting right away. When students are tardy during testing it is a huge distraction to the other kids! * Homework will be very light this week due to testing. Last week, students chose a topic and began research for their California reports. This week we will write the rough drafts in class. At home, students need to create a visual aide to go with their report, and make a cover, table of contents, and bibliography. Their rough drafts will be sent home at the end of this week. Final drafts will be completed at home and are due May 10th. Check the Student Links section for details! * We will be attending a county-wide 4th grade trip to Cabrillo College on May 11th. We have our 3 parent volunteers (Julie Cory, Angie Healy, and Chellee McLay). * The annual State Testing (CST) is coming up next week! Monday and Tuesday (April 30th and May 1st) will be Language Arts, and Wednesday and Thursday (May 2nd and 3rd) will be Math. Please be sure to get your child to school on time, as we will be starting the tests first thing in the morning. The Student Links section above has a ton of helpful websites where they can practice their skills. * Mark your calendar for May 17th for the Spring Choir Concert! I was so impressed by the amount of creativity and effort that the kids put into their floats! * Keep an eye out soon for a field trip permission slip. We will be attending a county-wide 4th grade trip to Cabrillo College on May 11th. * The annual State Testing (CST) is coming up soon! 4th graders will be taking the tests during the week of April 30th - 4th. * Tuesday is the California State Writing Assessment - a part of the annual standardized testing (the rest of the test will be later in the year).
