*We are starting the CSTs (State Testing) this week! All of the 4th graders will be testing Monday through Thursday from 8:00 - 10:00. The Language Arts tests will be on Monday and Tuesday, and the Math tests will be on Wednesday and Thursday.
Please be sure to send your child to school on time since we will be starting right away. When students are tardy during testing it is a huge distraction to the other kids!
* Homework will be very light this week due to testing. Last week, students chose a topic and began research for their California reports. This week we will write the rough drafts in class. At home, students need to create a visual aide to go with their report, and make a cover, table of contents, and bibliography. Their rough drafts will be sent home at the end of this week. Final drafts will be completed at home and are due May 10th. Check the Student Links section for details!
* We will be attending a county-wide 4th grade trip to Cabrillo College on May 11th. Permission slips were sent home last week. We have our 3 parent volunteers (Julie Cory, Angie Healy, and Chellee McLay).
* Mark your calendar for May 17th for the Spring Choir Concert! More information will be sent home soon.
* Open House is coming up on May 10th (6:30 - 8:00)!
* The Student Authors' Fair is coming up this Saturday, May 5th at the Capitola Mall. If you have any interest in volunteering, please let me know!
* Jogging for the Arts is coming up this Friday, May 4th! Our class is scheduled for 9:15. Students need to come to school ready to run! Donation forms were sent home last week.
This week we will...
...continue with our Geometry math unit with chapter 28. There won't be math homework assigned this week but students are encouraged to practice the new skills at home!
...continue reading and writing poetry!
